WHAT IS BEHAVIORAL ACTIVATION?
Behavioral Activation (BA) is an evidence-based intervention that helps individuals engage in valued activities to support reaching their recovery goals. The BA framework can be used effectively and safely by peer recovery coaches to improve outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs).
WHY PEER-DELIVERED BEHAVIORAL ACTIVATION?
Research from our team and others supports the effectiveness of behavioral action (BA) delivered by peer recovery specialists. This study evaluates the utility of BA in promoting retention in treatment for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). Funding also supports training peer recovery specialists/coaches across the country to deliver BA to the clients they work with.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Henry Ford Health and the University of Maryland partner with the Detroit Recovery Project (DRP) to evaluate the effectiveness of peer-delivered BA. The DRP is a non-profit organization based in the city of Detroit, where individuals in recovery receive the support that they need to achieve their recovery goals.
